2026: 10 jaar Fleddy Melculy, 10 jaar Helgië

2026 wordt een feestjaar voor de Belgische metalband Fleddy Melculy want niet alleen bestaat de band 10 jaar, ook het debuutalbum HELGIË blaast evenveel kaarsjes uit.

Het is even stil geweest rond de band, met als laatste wapenfeit een bom van een show op Alcatraz ’24, maar in het voorjaar van ’26 trekt de band opnieuw op tour door België en Nederland voor een X aantal exclusieve shows waar ze HELGIË integraal zullen spelen. Wat het nog extra bijzonder maakt is dat de tour zo goed als enkel bestaat uit kleine zaaltjes en clubs waar ze ook in 2016 begonnen. De ideale kans om de band opnieuw in zo’n kleine setting te zien. Back to the roots, quoi!

Als kers op de taart brengt Fleddy Melculy HELGIË opnieuw uit onder de naam HELGIË REDUX. De plaat die in 2023 een gouden award kreeg voor meer dan 10.000 verkochte units, is compleet hermixed en hermastered en klinkt nu zoals ze altijd had moeten klinken. De plaat bevat 2 extra bonustracks en komt uit op 23.01.26 op vinyl, cd en op alle streamingplatformen.

En dat is nog niet alles: er wordt momenteel hard gewerkt aan een nieuw full album. De opvolger van ANTICHLIST zal in het najaar van 2026 in de rekken liggen.

In 2026 is Fleddy Melculy back in full force en u zult het geweten hebben.

Wanneer Fleddy Melculy begin 2016 een instant hit heeft met hun 1ste single ’T-shirt van Metallica’ leek het er heel even op dat er een nieuwe grappende en grollende ééndagsvlieg was geboren, maar de internethype, het tekenen bij major Sony Music, en vooral het debuutalbum HELGIË (ondertussen meer dan 10.000 units verkocht en dus goud in België!) maakten duidelijk dat het wel om een band ging die men au sérieux mag nemen. Wat volgde was een run uitverkochte clubshows en festivals in de Benelux met in 2017 als startschot 2 shows op het Eurosonic Noorderslag showcase festival te Groningen. De band slaagde er in om letterlijk podium na podium te slopen, en bevestigde met een ijzersterke live reputatie. De singles ‘Feestje in uw huisje’, ‘Pinker’, ‘Geen vlees wel vis’ werden allemaal Afrekening-hitjes op Studio Brussel.

DE KERK VAN MELCULY, het tweede album en eveneens een dubbelaar, bevestigde in 2018 dat de band heel wat in zijn mars had. Singles zoals ‘Varken’, ‘668’, ‘Moeidunidotcom’ en ‘Ik ben kwaad’ vinden opnieuw vlotjes hun weg naar De Afrekening van Studio Brussel. De daarbij horende clubtours en festivals zorgden er dan ook voor dat Fleddy Melculy werd gebombardeerd tot best verkopende Belgische metalact. De plaat kwam binnen op 1 in de Ultratop, wat ongezien is voor een metalband, dat in het Nederlands zingt, met humoristisch getinte teksten. 

 

Eind 2018 verscheen al kers op de taart de live plaat ‘Graspop Metal Meeting ’18’, een mooi souvenir van wat één van de gekste Fleddy Melculy shows tot nog toe was.

De derde plaat, SABBATH FLEDDY SABBATH, kwam ongelukkig genoeg uit op de dag van de eerste Corona lockdown, en toonde aan dat er toch ook een serieus kantje aan de band zit. Uit de reactie van de fans op singles ‘Stop!’, ‘Beest’ en ‘De hel niet gezien’ blijkt dat de fans geen enkel probleem hadden om ook dat kantje van de band te omarmen. Tijdens de pandemie bracht de band nog een EP uit …AND JUST NIKS FOR ALL, dat het midden hield tussen satire en ernst, maar waarop er vooral werd getoond dat de band muzikaal gezien enorm gegroeid is ten opzichte van HELGIË. Beide platen komen opnieuw hoog binnen in de charts, wat bewijst dat Fleddy Melculy na 5 jaar door razen nog geen greintje aan populariteit heeft moeten inboeten.

‘ANTICHLIST’, de 4de Melculy-plaat kwam opnieuw binnen op 1 in de Vlaamse Ultratop en werd zowel door pers als fans unaniem heel goed ontvangen. Een plaat over oud worden, de tijd van toen, mannenemancipatie, fake news, haat, koude voeten, en natuurlijk over de wereld die helemaal naar de kloten gaat. De band was erin geslaagd een nieuwe plaat te maken waarop ze evolueren en een nog bredere muzikale richting uit gaan, wat het de meest diverse Fleddy Melculy plaat tot op heden maakt.

De band speelde de afgelopen jaren meer dan 250 shows in de Benelux, waarvan heel wat (uitverkochte) clubshows en opvallende passages op festivals zoals Graspop Metal Meeting (4X), Alcatraz (2X), Werchter Classic en Parklife, Pinkpop, Pukkelpop (3X) Jera on Air (2X), Groezrock, Paaspop (2X), Rock Zottegem (3X), Crammerock (2X), Dynamo Metalfest etc… Ook bij onze Franstalige zuiderburen valt de muziek in de smaak! De rest van Europa lonkt…

De band organiseert met regelmaat ook hun eigen FLEDDYPALOOZA, een festival waarbij ze de programmatie voor hun eigen rekening nemen en met opkomende en spraakmakende bands het podium delen.

Fleddy Melculy is na 10 jaar uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde in de Belgische en Nederlandse metalscene en is van plan daar nog minstens evenveel jaren bij te tellen.

2026: 10 Years of Fleddy Melculy, 10 Years of Helgië

2026 will be a celebratory year for the Belgian metal band Fleddy Melculy because not only is the band celebrating its 10th anniversary, but their debut album HELGË is also blowing out the same number of candles.

It's been quiet around the band for a while, with their latest feat being a bombshell show at Alcatraz '24, but in the spring of '26 the band will once again tour Belgium and the Netherlands for a number of exclusive shows where they will play HELGIË in its entirety. What makes it even more special is that the tour consists almost entirely of small venues and clubs where they also started in 2016. The ideal opportunity to see the band again in such a small setting. Back to the rootsi!

And as icing on the cake, Fleddy Melculy is re-releasing HELGIË under the name HELGIË REDUX. The album, which received a gold award in 2023 for over 10,000 units sold, has been completely remixed and remastered and now sounds as it always should have. The album includes two bonus tracks and will be released on January 23, 2026, on vinyl, CD, and all streaming platforms.

And that's not all: they are currently hard at work on a new full-length album. The successor to ANTICHLIST will be available in the fall of 2026. In 2026, Fleddy Melculy will be back in full force, and you'll know it.

When Fleddy Melculy had an instant hit in early 2016 with their 1st single 'T-shirt van Metallica', it seemed for a moment that a new joking and growling one-hit wonder was born, but the internet hype around the band, signing with major Sony Music, and especially the debut album HELGIË (almost 10,000 units sold in Belgium!) made it clear that this is a band that can be taken seriously.

What followed was a run of sold-out club shows and festivals in the Benelux, starting with 2 shows in 2017 at the Eurosonic Noorderslag showcase festival in Groningen (NL). The band managed to literally demolish stage after stage, and confirmed their notoriety with a rock-solid live reputation. Singles like ‘Feestje in uw huisje', 'Pinker', ‘Geen vlees wel vis' all became hits on Studio Brussel, Belgium’s number 1 alternative radio.

DE KERK VAN MELCULY, the second album and also a double album, confirmed in 2018 that this band had a lot to offer. Singles such as 'Varken', '668', 'Moeidunidotcom' and ‘Ik ben kwaad' find their way easily to alternative radio stations. Club tours and festivals ensured that Fleddy Melculy was bombarded as the best-selling Belgian metal act. The record came in at number 1 in the Ultratop (Belgian charts), which is unseen for a metal band that sings in Dutch, with humorous lyrics.

 

At the end of 2018, the live record ‘GRASPOP METAL MEETING '18' was released as an icing on the cake, a nice souvenir of one of the craziest Fleddy Melculy shows to date.

The third record, SABBATH FLEDDY SABBATH, was unfortunately released on the day of the first Corona lockdown, and showed that there is also a serious side to the band. The reaction of the fans to singles like 'Stop!', 'Beest' and ‘De hel niet gezien' showed that the die-hard fans had no problem embracing that side of the band as well. During the pandemic, the band released another EP …AND JUST NIKS FOR ALL, which was a crossover between satire and seriousness, but above all it showed that musically the band had grown enormously compared to HELGIË. Both albums debuted also high in the charts, which proves that Fleddy Melculy has not lost an ounce of popularity after 5 years of raging.
 

"ANTICHLIST," Melculy's 4th album, debuted at number 1 on the Flemish Ultratop chart and was unanimously acclaimed by both press and fans. It's an album about growing old, the old days, male emancipation, fake news, hate, cold feet, and, of course, the world going completely to shit. The band had succeeded in creating a new album that saw them evolve and explore an even broader musical direction, making it the most diverse Fleddy Melculy album to date.

The band played more than 250 shows in the Benelux in recent years, many of which were (sold out) club shows and striking appearances at Graspop Metal Meeting (4X), Alcatraz (2X), Werchter Classic and Parklife, Pukkelpop (3X), Pinkpop, Jera on Air (2X), Groezrock, Paaspop (2X) , Rock Zottegem (2X), Crammerock (2X), Dynamo Metalfest etc… Our French-speaking southern neighbors already enjoy the music, and the rest of Europe will be next to conquer…

They also regularly organize their own FLEDDYPALOOZA, a festival where they take care of the lineup themselves and share the stage with up-and-coming and high-profile bands.

Fleddy Melculy has become an established value in the Benelux, no doubt about it. A well-oiled machine that takes over every stage and is rock solid.
